The online portion of Ghost of Tsushima, Legends, is getting a standalone release.
In conjunction with a standalone release for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends a new Rivals mode will be added to what was once a free game update to the original release.
In Legends, you can fight alongside your friends and play in two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, as well as an invasion .
Legends is a free content update for owners of the main game, and each update here is available at no additional charge to owners of any version.
Players on the PS4 and The PS5 will also be able to play seamlessly, and the development on Legends carries over regardless of which console you play.
Now up to Rivals mode, two teams of two can compete to defeat waves of opponents. With each defeated enemy, you collect Magatama that can be used to damage the other team. An example is Shades, which you can buy along with Magatama to block opponent purchases, or spend it on Curses to strip health and more.
When you have spent enough in-game money, you open Final Stand waves, which you will need to complete before the other team can do to win.
Both Rivals mode and the standalone version of Legends will be available on September 3.
In addition, on September 3, Sucker Punch will release the Gear Mastery system, which is an expansion of the systems progress and rewards for Legends. Players who gain 110-level gear will now be able to tie it to a class and activate "Mastery Challenges." This will allow a Ki level piece of gear to be upgraded to 120 and later unlock a second boost slot. As you enable Mastery Challenges, you can also unlock a new Ability and new strategies for each class.
Starting August 20, which is the release date for Ghost of Tsushima: Director ' s Cut, the developers will also release an update that adds new features to Legends. The update will include some changes based on community feedback. The update will see the rebalancing done in Survival mode, which will shorten the session length. It will also add new weekly Survival Nightmare with a variety of challenges, and it will unlock additional cosmetics for Legends players who got them in the story of Jin and New Game +.
Again, all of the above are available at no additional cost if you already own Ghost of Tsushima. However, if you don’t own the main game and want to give Legends a go, the standalone version is available in the PS Store for $ 19.99 / € 19.99 / £ 15.99 on PS4 or PS5.
Except for a few cosmetics that can only be unlocked through the single player campaign, this is the same Legends content that is accessible through the game, so you'll have access to content released in 2020 in addition to all new described above.
Finally, in addition to the aforementioned, Sucker Punch will add a new content each week from September 10 to October 1. The content will include an additional Rival map, new Safety maps inspired by Iki Island and Kingdom of You, and Trials of You, a new harder hard version of Raid last year.
